PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Governor Rick Scott will be making a stop on the Suncoast today.

Scott will visit Charlotte County today for the groundbreaking ceremony of a new Vietnam War memorial. The Vietnam Wall of Southwest Florida will go up in Laishley Park in Punta Gorda.

Fundraising for the memorial began last year as organizers worked to bring a replica of the traveling Vietnam Wall to the area. They reached their goal sooner than expected with the help of state grants and big donations.

The ceremony to honor our veterans and break ground on the new wall will take place this afternoon at 4 p.m.
