TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Governor Rick Scott is proposing a $10 million investment to hire 130 more investigators and counselors within the Florida Department of Children and Families.

He announced his proposal to use the money to hire additional child protective investigators and Florida Abuse Hotline counselors.

The investment will also address retention and workload statewide, according to Scott.

“Every child deserves a bright future and we must do everything we can to ensure all children are given the best opportunity to live happy, healthy lives," Governor Scott said. "I look forward to working with the Legislature to support this funding as we continue to work together to keep vulnerable children safe.”

The governor's press office says more details on the Governor’s proposed budget will be made available in the coming weeks.
