ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A pedestrian is dead after stopping to help drivers involved in a four-vehicle crash in Escambia County.

The Florida Highway Patrol says 21-year-old Kyle Harrison rear-ended a vehicle carrying four passengers at the intersection of US-90 and Eight Mile Creek Road.

That crash caused the vehicle carrying four passengers to crash into another car.

Troopers say a pedestrian, 34-year-old Dannah Marie McCormick, walked over to check on the passengers involved.

However, a 80-year-old Cecelia Mroz's vehicle was traveling in the opposite direction and she failed to see McCormick and Harrison in the road before hitting them.

McCormick died from her injuries. Harrison was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in critical condition. FHP says charges are pending.
