(WTXL) - The Georgia Department of Corrections has launched a homicide investigation after an inmate was found dead Wednesday morning at the Valdosta State Prison.

It's the sixth death of the year at the prison.

The victim, Joshua Roman, was sentenced in 2012 for child molestation and had a maximum release date of 2026.

Investigators believe he died from injuries he got during a fight with another inmate.

The details of that fight and Roman's autopsy results have not been released.

Roman's death is the sixth one reported at the prison this year. Excluding Roman's case, they were all ruled suicides.
