TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Gaines Street District is selected as a finalist for the American Planning Association's 'Great Places in Florida' award.
The winner will be decided by popular vote. You can cast your ballot online by clicking this link.
Voting is open until October 19.
The Association says they selected Gaines Street because it is an example of good urban planning. The district was recently revitalized after five years of construction. New businesses in the area are estimated to have brought in over $250 million in private investment into the corridor.
This year, four places were selected as finalists. In addition to Gaines Street, the finalists are Downtown Lake Worth, Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach, and Circle B Bar Reserve and Discovery Center in Lakeland.
