TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida State University is launching a new initiative that will help new students engage with students and activities on campus.

The Engage 100 initiative will offer zero credit courses which are geared toward connecting students with similar interests and activities to help improve their college experience.

"These are going to part of their regular academic path at the University and the idea is to not create obstacles through this but give the students the kind of support and engagement they need and that are known in the research to have really high impact on student success," said Joe O'Shea, FSU Assistant Provost.

University officials say that only 40 percent of the students participate in undergrad research and other programs. They’re hoping that the initiative will help numbers improved.
