TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The soon to be Florida State entrepreneurship school has a newly announced home in downtown Tallahassee.

University officials say the former Guaranty National Bank building on South Monroe Street was donated to Florida State.

The building is valued at $1.1 million and was donated by Brian and Kathryn Ballard. Kathryn Ballard is a FSU alumna and member of the Board of Trustees; Brian Ballard is the CEO of Ballard Partners.

"This incredibly generous gift is a remarkable demonstration of Brian and Kathryn Ballards' support for Florida State University," said President John Thrasher. "It will enable us to quickly follow through on making the Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship a reality."

The Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship and the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship was created after a $100 million dollar donation from Jan Moran and the Jim Moran Foundation.

FSU says the donated building will be occupied by the school's staff and director. The faculty will keep their current offices throughout the campus.

The university predicts the school will open in August of 2018.
