MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- If you are above the age of 55 in Gadsden County, the State Fire Marshal Bureau of Fire Prevention is helping you stay safe from possible house fires.

Residents can have smoke detectors delivered to and installed in their homes.

The Bureau was recently awarded a FEMA Fire Prevention and Safety Grant to promote a comprehensive statewide fire campaign for the elderly population. Through the grant, they have 150 smoke detectors to give to local residents.

To participate in the program, you can call the Gadsden County Fire Service at (850)875-8699. There's a limit of two fire detectors per household.
