TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Tallahassee police say that a former employee of a local middle school, accused of molesting a minor, may have had inappropriate contact with other children.
The woman, Rosa Lee Stephens, is listed as an employee of Stars Middle School in a police report. However, the assistant principal of the school, Mr. Ahmet Temel, says that Stephens hasn't worked there since October 1. He says that she was only employed as a part-time cafeteria worker for about a month, and left for "job-related" reasons.
Stephens was arrested on November 27. A female child and her grandmother reported the incident to police on October 24.
The child told investigators the incident happened on October 21, when she was spending the night at a friend's house. She said that Stephens—who, according to a police report, is related to the host of the sleepover—was spending the night as well.
The girl says that she was awakened by Stephens. Stephens reportedly licked the girl's stomach, took off her clothes, got on top of her, and touched her inappropriately. The victim says that Stephens stopped after being pushed away.
When Stephens was questioned by police, she reportedly threw up and said she suffers from anxiety attacks. Police say that she signed a waiver refusing to be transported for further evaluation.
Stephens is charged with Lewd and Lascivious Molestation of a Minor. She is in the Leon County Jail with a $25,000 bond. Police are concerned that she may have had inappropriate contact with other children. The Tallahassee Police Department is asking anyone who believes they have pertinent information about Stephens to please call the Special Victims Unit at 850-891-4273.
