TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -A new program at FSU aims to encourage students to come together and make connections with other students, faculty, and staff.

The Florida State University Student Diversity and Inclusion Council launched a university-wide campaign called #PowerofWe. #PowerofWe's motto is "our differences make the difference".

The council chairman, Inam Sakinah, said the message is to embrace, harness and celebrate diversity. "We can engage across these differences and build relationships, connect different ideas, connect different circles and really make this University a better place and make ourselves better students, better thinkers and better leaders," Sakinah explained.

The program also aims to help different groups of students to come together and open up communications and connections with other students, faculty, and staff.

Members introduced students to the new campaign, took pictures, and passed out flyers. There was also a chalk board where attendees wrote about what diversity and inclusion meant to them.

"We really believe that diversity and inclusion are more than buzz words, they’re tools and vehicles for collective success and our individual success, so we will have events related to that," Sakinah said.

The group also said that they will be having a series of programs throughout the semester. Some of them include: Conversation Chalkboard, The Longest Table at FSU, Conversation X.

There will also be a public service announcement at the Clemson and Florida State football game on Oct. 29th at the Doak Campbell Stadium.
