TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Florida welcomed more visitors in the first quarter of this year than any other in state history, according to VISIT FLORIDA.
Governor Rick Scott announced Friday that 28.4 million visitors came to Florida from January to March of this year, breaking the previous record of 26.7 million visitors during the same months last year.
Of the 28.4 million visitors, VISIT FLORIDA estimates 2.9 million came from overseas, and another 1.7 million visited from Canada -- both of which are record highs.
Governor Scott said the goal is welcome 100 million visitors to the state this year.
