TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - According to a new study by Wallethub.com, Florida is the best state for military retirees.
Wallethub analysts compared the fifty states and District of Columbia for their economic environment, quality of life, and health care.
The Sunshine State was ranked in the top five for health care and quality of life, while being ranked in the top 10 for economic environment.
The president of the Florida Veterans Foundation says they are happy to be recognized for their continued efforts.
"It's in our blood in Florida, taking care of Veterans. It's what we live for, it's what we do, those of us that wants to press forward in and help those who are in need," said Dennis Baker.
Also this afternoon, one special Veteran Captain Dale Doss was presented with a brick from a Vietnam prison war cell for his service to the veteran community.
Captain Doss was imprisoned for five years during his time in Vietnam and came back home to serve veterans for the past 20 years.
