TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - State child welfare officials are giving away wearable blankets to try and prevent unsafe sleeping deaths.

Parents often put a baby to bed with a loose blanket that can cover a baby's face and interfere with breathing. The Department of Children and Families launched a campaign in 2013 to educate families about sleeping deaths. This week, the agency announced it would give 2,000 wearable blankets to families.

The campaign aims to increase public awareness that the safest way for babies to sleep is alone on their backs in a crib.
