Firefighter Honored at Tuesday Night Quincy Commission Meeting

QUINCY, FL (WTXL) - A Quincy firefighter are being rewarded for their bravery at Tuesday Night's Commission Meeting.

According to a letter from Fire Chief Scott Haire in the City Commission Agenda, Lt. Paul Mathews and two other firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire on Porter Mitchell Road on June 30.

When the firefighters arrived, the found a house fully-involved with a partial roof collapse.

The letter goes on to explain that Lt. Matthews went into the home through the bedroom and found the 84 year-old resident who was able to be taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

"Courage in the face of danger is an attribute all fire personnel must exhibit and Lt. Mathews has exhibited this attribute of courage throughout his career," praises Haire in the letter.
