MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A 13-year-old girl and a Florida man have died after a Marion County crash on Thursday.

The Florida Highway Patrol says that a car driven by John Ballard, 28, of Lady Lake, Fla. was traveling eastbound on CR 484 when it hit the left side of another car.

After the second car was hit, FHP says it traveled off the road and overturned, ejecting a 13-year-old passenger.

Ballard's car continued to go forward while out of control and troopers say his car started overturning. They say a third car on the road then hit Ballard's car, causing it to go off the road, overturning again.

Ballard and the 13-year-old girl were pronounced dead on the scene. Troopers report that neither Ballard or the teen were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The woman driving the car the teen was in was hospitalized in serious condition. Two other passengers in the car, a 10-year-old and a 25-year-old, suffered minor injuries.

FHP says the driver of the second car was wearing a seatbelt.

The person driving the third car suffered minor injuries as well.
