CRAWFORDVILLE, FL (WTXL) - Florida Highway Patrol has reported that 2 people have died and 2 people are in critical condition after a fatal crash in Wakulla County.

Troopers said 30-Year-Old Rachel Sheffield and 29-year-old Michael Halstead have died after their car was hit by another. The car that hit them was carrying two minors under 18 who are both in critical condition.

They said they arrived to the scene around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bloxham Cutoff Road and Lonnie Baker Lane in Crawfordville.

Troopers said that the first car, carrying the minors, were traveling west on State Road 267 when their tire blew out, causing them to swerve and hit another car carrying Sheffield and Halstead.

After they hit each other, the first car began to roll and the teens were thrown from the car, according to troopers.

The road way was completely closed for a few hours, but has now reopened. The teens are both from Perry and the adults are from Tallahassee.

Sheffield and the minors did not have on a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The investigation is still ongoing and charges are pending. FHP was assisted by the Wakulla County Sheriff's Department, Wakulla Fire and EMS and Tallahassee Life Flight.

The story will continue to be updated as we confirm more details.
