TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (WTXL) - Doctor Elmira Mangum officially became the school's 11th president this morning.
Surrounded by students, faculty, and alumni, Doctor Elmira Mangum took the stage at the Alfred j. Lawson center installed as Florida A & M University president.
Not only did FAMU hold the inauguration ceremony for its 11th president and first female president in history, but the school also celebrated its 127th birthday today.
During Mangum's address, she stressed that it is a new season at FAMU. As FAMU's president, Dr. Mangum hopes to get the university back on track academically and rebuild its reputation.
The week long inauguration celebration continues tonight at 7:30 with the black tie inauguration scholarship gala, and then wraps up tomorrow when the football team takes on Morgan state.
