TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Florida A&M and Florida State universities' performers are getting ready for their performance in honor of Tallahassee jazz legends Nat and Cannonball Adderly.

This Friday kicks off the inaugural Florida Jazz and Blue's Festival at Cascades Park. The event was created by Grammy winning jazz trumpeter, Scotty Barnhart, and will include free day performances and ticketed night acts.

Banhart, who is a FAMU alum and FSU professor as well as director of the County Basie Orchestra, said the festival will be something new for the region.

The Unity Music Foundation has partnered with the festival to give over $10,000 to local high school and college music students.
