TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Capital Regional Transportation Planning Agency met Monday to review several agenda items.

Among them were transportation alternatives priority projects and its regional incentive program.

Monday's CRPTA meeting opened with citizen comment and four agenda items. Among them, applications for four new sidewalks and an off road bike path.

Three of those sidewalk additions are for Wakulla County, two on Arran Road and one on Trice Lane. The fourth, which raised the most discussion, was for a much needed new sidewalk on Blountstown Street.

"There's a lot of pedestrians out in that area if you walk along Blountstown Highway north of Pensacola you can see some little footpaths where folks already walking and stuff so that's usually probably the best indicator that we need to look at adding some sidewalks in that particular area," said Greg Slay, the CRPTA executive director.

The board voted unanimously to move forward with the priority listed projects.

Funding requested for the Blountstown project is just over $900,000. Combined totals requested for the Wakulla improvements are just shy of $2 million.

The CRPTA expects that the additions will to provide a better experience for trail users and attract more users to contribute to the local economy.
