APALACHICOLA, FL (WTXL) - A chlorine leak at the Apalachicola Waste Water Treatment Plant caused an evacuation of surrounding neighborhoods Friday morning.
According to the Franklin County Emergency Management Department, once the leak was detected, the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department responded to the plant.
A hazmat team was brought down from Tallahassee to cleanup the spill and the department says the evacuation notice has been lifted.
At this time, department officials say they did not know the cause of the leak.
