WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A 11-year-old Crawfordville boy has been hospitalized in serious condition after a teen driver hit the back of the car he was in.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened on Thursday around 7 a.m.

They say that a Nissan Altima was traveling southbound in front of a 16-year-old driver on U.S. 319. Troopers write that as the Altima was starting to slow down to turn right, the teen driver failed to slow down and hit the back of the Altima.

The crash then caused the teen's car to roll forward into the northbound lane and hit a third car.

An 11-year-old passenger in the Altima was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for serious injuries. The driver suffered minor injuries, though was not hospitalized, and an adult passenger in the car was unharmed.

The 16-year-old driver suffered minor injuries while all the occupants in the third car, which included an adult driver, an infant, and an 8-year-old, were uninjured.
