TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee and Leon County residents will get the chance to meet with city and county officials to talk about safety surrounding trees.

WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live Wednesday morning with details about the upcoming meeting.

The community is invited to come out to hear the latest on the Canopy Roads Management Plan Wednesday.

The plan is citizen written under the direction of city and county commissions.

It addresses the issues surrounding the canopy roads and desires to make improvements.

With many still feeling the effects of Hurricane Michael, many property owners are raising their concerns about the tree cover in the area and the safety issues they might bring about.

One big issue the advisory committee wants to tackle Wednesday is how to come together with property owners.

Much of the canopy protection zone is on private property, and Wednesday's meeting will go in detail with how the group plans to work alongside those property owners.

The canopy road system includes 78 miles of road - 20 miles in the city and 58 in the county.

Each road has a tree protection plan that extends 100 feet within the centerline of the road

If you have input, you're welcome to come out to the Frenchtown Renaissance Center at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday for the meeting.
