TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)---Emergency calls illustrate the frantic moments leading up to the shooting of Leon County Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher Smith.

The Leon County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday released the 911 calls made on Saturday November 22, 2014.

Deputy Smith was shot and killed in an ambush attack while he was responding to a house fire near Plantation Woods.

Deputy Smith had been with the Leon County Sheriff’s Department since 2009.

The release of the 911 calls come just one week after three Leon County emergency dispatchers were fired for not following protocol when alerting responders of the house fire.
