CAIRO, Ga. (WTXL) — Learning took a new form on Friday for Cairo students at Eastside Elementary School's second annual Fine Arts Day.

Students in all grade levels were taken to see different fine arts performers and artisans to learn and ask questions about what they do.

Some groups traveled from other communities for the day, while many performers, like the jazz band, were from Grady County.

Among these was an alpaca farmer who raises the animal and knits with its fleece.

The students may be young, but they truly absorb everything they see during the Fine Arts Day.

"At a young age is when you instill that interest that it may spark something with these young students. As they get on to middle school and high they may say 'you know, I really enjoyed that and I want to pursue that. It may not be what I want to do for the rest of my life, but it may be something that's an outlet for me," said Music Teacher Megan Lokey.

Lokey said that students seem to be more interested in dancing and drawing after attending last year's event.
