SOPCHOPPY, FL (WTXL) -- A man has drowned after visiting Sopchoppy City Park with his family and friends Wednesday.

According to the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office, 31-year-old Richard Chadwell of Apalachicola went into the lake at the park and didn't come back up to the surface for some time.

Some good Samaritans searched for about 45 minutes before they found Chadwell and pulled him to shore.

The sheriff's office says no foul play was suspected.

"He was there with family and friends. They were camping. He was there visiting," said Captain James Sessor. "He just ran out into the water -- apparently, could not swim good and went under."

A dive team from Leon County and a marine unit from Wakulla County were called in to help, but the good Samaritans got to Chadwell before both groups arrived.
