TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Twelve rescue groups from all over the U.S. came together to rescue a total of 87 animals from a Florida home on Tuesday.
The Alaqua Animal Refuge said that the case was in Vernon, Fla. where the site, once a breeding facility for Great Pyreness, had deteriorated to the point of uncontrolled breeding and lack of care for the dogs.
The organization says that the dog's owner, who was the breeder, had passed away.
They say it took 45 people with all hands on deck all day to get 55 dogs and nine cats out of the house and off the property.
Thirteen of the dogs and 10 of the cats were brought to Alaqua Animal Refuge for urgent care.
Alaqua was joined by 12 rescue groups and organizations from the Northeast and Southeast U.S. They thanked the following organizations:

They also thanked the Holmes County and Washington County sheriff's offices.
The team in Alaqua says that they are still in need of funding to cover their expenses and say that all donations are helpful.
