VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - Activists have issued a call to action to focus attention on the problems pipelines like Sabal Trail create for the surrounding communities.

Wiregrass Activists for Clean Energy (WACE) have said they are participating in a national day of action, "Hands Across Our Land" on Thursday. The event was designed to bring attention to the hardships landowners and communities face as energy corporations push for the construction of pipelines.

President of WACE, Michael Noll, said that the land should never be used for business purposes at the expense of community.

"Likewise the safety and welfare of our communities are paramount, and we cannot stand idly by as an outdated energy industry chooses greed over people and shareholder profits over the environment," said Noll.

They event will take place at the Lowdnes County courthouse in downtown Valdosta at 6 p.m. The event is being sponsored by the Blue Ridge Environment Defense League.

All concerned citizens are invited. For more information, contact Dr. Micheal Noll at (229) 292-6520, wace.info@gmail.com or click here to visit their website.
