VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL)- A 27-year-old woman has been arrested after police found her to be in possession of more than a pound of marijuana and multiple stolen guns. 

Sade Thompson had stolen firearms recovered from an apartment that was within an 1/4 of a mile from two child daycare facilities. 

On Tuesday around 8:35 a.m. Valdosta Police Officers were investing a "civil dispute" at a local business in the 2500 block of Bermiss Road. 

Officers on the scene recognized a driver, who had nothing to do with the civil dispute, drive past with a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

One of the officers walked over to the vehicle and began speaking with the driver, but when the officer asked for identification, the driver of the vehicle sped away and was last seen traveling northbound on Bemis Road.

Thompson was contacted by police and told them she knew the man that ran from police earlier.

Information obtained through the investigation led to searches of the vehicle in question and a nearby apartment.

Police found over one pound of marijuana, two stolen handguns, and several types of narcotics.  

Thompson was charged with possession of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence, theft, and possession of tools for the commission of crimes.

Charges on the original suspect in this case are pending.
