GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a school bus overturned in northeast Georgia after the driver passed out at the wheel, sending 15 students to a hospital.
The Times of Gainesville reports the Hall County school bus crashed around 8 a.m. Friday at the intersection Joe Chandler Road and East Hall Road.
A state patrol spokesman said the driver of the bus, Doug McClure, had a medical condition that caused him to pass out at the wheel.
McClure has been driving buses in the East Hall district since 2008.
Jewel Armour, executive director of transportation, says McClure had an excellent driving record with no prior accidents.
Authorities say 15 students from East Hall High School and McClure were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
All were treated and released by Friday afternoon.
