DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities are searching for a South Florida teen they believe may have been abducted on her way to school.

Police say 17-year-old Jade Beneby of Delray Beach sent a text message to her mother Tuesday morning saying "Mommy, help me. I'm in trouble."

The girl's grandmother says the teen sent a second message, claiming she was in the trunk of a car.

A statewide missing child alert has been issued as police try to locate the teen.

There were no reported witnesses to the abduction.
