TAYLOR CO. , Ga. - A Taylor County single-car crash that initially left two Georgia residents critically injured has turned fatal, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver of the vehicle, 23-year-old Tori Lynn Lovett, has died.
Lovett, was traveling east on US Highway 98, or State Road 30, toward Cabbage Grove Road in the eastbound lane. For unknown reasons, Lovett allegedly lost control of the vehicle after trying to pass another vehicle. The car then overturned, collided with a power pole, and continued to overturn multiple times.
Lovett was ejected from the vehicle after colliding with the pole. According to the report, she was not wearing a seatbelt.
The passenger in the vehicle, 24-year-old Stephen Taylor Edwards, was trapped in the vehicle at the time of crash. He was also critically injured. He was reportedly wearing a seatbelt.
No update has been given to his condition.
The crash is under investigation at this time.
Florida Highway Patrol was assisted by Taylor County Sheriff’s Department, Taylor County Fire and Rescue and TCEC Electric when responding to the accident.
Lovett is from Cairo, Ga., and Edwards is from Whigham, Ga.
The crash caused estimated $15,000 worth of damage to the vehicle, a 2005 Cadillac CTS.
