MIDWAY, FL - Some good news for the Giant Panda.

An International Conservation group took them off the Endangered Species List.

They say China's efforts to bring it back from the brink of extinction are working.

The animal is now listed as "vulnerable."

The group warns that climate change is still a major threat to the panda's bamboo habitat.

Experts predict climate change will eliminate more than 35% of the panda's bamboo habitat over the next 80 years.

There have been changes to the endangered species list over the last couple of years.

Thursday on Second Cup, WTXL's Christine Souders and Meteorologist Alex Cordero tested their knowledge on whether or not some other animals are on the list.

Is the Louisiana Black Bear on the list?

The Louisiana Black Bear is not endangered. They were 'delisted' as a threatened species on March 11th, 2015. The bear was originally listed under the endangered species act in 1992 due to habitat loss.

How about the West Indian Manatee?

Not Endangered! Significant improvements in it's population and habitat conditions and reductions in direct threats. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed down listing the West Indian Manatee from "endangered" to "threatened" under the act.

Is the Chimpanzee on the list?

Yes, the Chimpanzee is endangered. Chimps have already disappeared completely from four countries and are under tremendous pressure everywhere else they live. Disease also stalks chimpanzees: Ebola outbreaks have killed tens of thousands of great apes.
