TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Meet our Pet of the Week, Dawson.

This five-year old is a classic black Lab, with a super soft and shiny coat.

She same into the shelter as a stray last month. Volunteers there say she is good with other dogs, but can be shy when meeting new people or animals.

Dawson is in good health and is heartworm negative. She's also already been spayed.

You can catch our Pet of the Week every Tuesday morning at 6:30 on WTXL Sunrise.

Tuesday is also the monthly low-cost rabies and microchip clinic at the Tallahassee Animal Service Center for dogs, cats and ferrets. Pets must be at least three months old for rabies shot and two months to get a microchip. Cats must be in a pet carrier and dogs on a leash.

The clinic is October 6 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the shelter (1125 Easterwood Drive). There's a suggested donation of $5 for rabies and $10 for microchip. For more information, click here.
