WAKULLA COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - Kids in Wakulla are getting an opportunity to get on the water and fish at an upcoming event.

The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office and Wakulla County Parks and Recreation Department are hosting a free Children's Fishing Tournament on Saturday, May 15.

The event lasts from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. with fish weigh-ins at 2 p.m. In addition to a morning of fishing, kids will received a free lunch at Woolley Park in Panacea as well as participate in games, rides and prizes.

Multiple fish will be eligible for weigh-ins including multiple fresh water and saltwater fish. Kids can fish at Mashes Sands Pier, Otter Lake, Wooley Pier or any other legal fishing site.

Volunteers are still needed to work with the children on their fishing and parents are welcome to volunteer in those spots.
