TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- We're stirring things up for this What's to Eat!

Billy Poole, owner of One Fresh Stir Fry, joined us on WTXL Sunrise to teach us how to make black rice stir fry.

Black rice is a very misunderstood starch. According to NPR, "In ancient China, black rice was considered so superior and rare, it was reserved exclusively for the emperor and royalty. These days the grain, also known as forbidden rice, has become the darling of gourmets and people seeking superior nutrition."

Black rice is high in nutritional value and is a source of iron, vitamin E, and antioxidants. It's also an easy way to add variety to your cooking.

Poole says no matter what kind of stir fry you make, the order is key! Build yours in this order: protein, starch, vegetables, then sauce.

Remember you can catch What's to Eat every Friday morning on WTXL Sunrise.
