ATLANTA (AP) - A prosecutor says a grand jury has indicted a former school principal accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the school.
Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard on Thursday announced that the 48-count indictment against 37-year-old Christopher Clemons was returned Tuesday.
Howard says investigators determined Clemons stole more than $800,000 from Latin Academy Charter School between July 11, 2014, and June 26, 2015. Howard says Clemons wired money from the school's bank account to his own and used school money at adult entertainment establishments, for dinners and for non-work travel.
Howard says Clemons left Atlanta when police began investigating and was arrested in April in Denver.
A lawyer listed in court records for Clemons didn't immediately respond to an email seeking comment Thursday.
