TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Deputies have arrested a man accused of making threats against a Rick Scott staffer.

According to court documents, Stuart Pollins contacted the Leon County Sheriff's Office saying he had received harassing voicemails from a man named Jordan Jereb.

Deputies said the voicemails claimed that Pollins' son, 20-year-old Jonathan Vaccaro-Pollins, stole $60 from Jereb and was demanding Pollins pay the money back for his son.

Jereb says in the voicemails that he is a member of the "Republic of Florida" militia, according to deputies--making statements such as, "You don't mess with me and you don't mess with the R.O.F."

In a court document investigators said, "It appears that [Jereb] is using [Pollins]' status at the Governor's Office and [Pollins]' sons past alleged issues with Law Enforcement as a catalyst to obtain money from [Pollins]. [Jereb] cites [Pollins]' $200,000 home and estimated yearly salary as a means for [Pollins] to pay [Jereb] the money. Furthermore, [Jereb] goes as far as to ask for 'a little extra' money so [Jereb] won't be 'pissed off'."

Jereb's wife, Trisha Huggins, says he just wanted the money back and shouldn't have been arrested: "He's been trying to do well. He's gone a year without doing nearly anything wrong, you know, and when the guy stole the money, Jordan may have gotten a little bit angry, but Jordan just wanted our sixty dollars back, and there's nothing wrong with that. I don't see how he could be in jail right now for doing nothing but asking for our money back."

When deputies spoke with Jereb prior to his arrest, Jereb recorded the meeting and posted the 10-minute conversation to YouTube.

In the video when deputies asked why he didn't just press charges to get his money back Jereb said, "..if I press charges on somebody and they've got to go to jail, what does that really do for me? I mean, somebody else suffering, doesn't really help me. You know, if just doesn't really help me. My chief interest here is getting my money back."

Jereb was arrested on Monday; his bond was set at $5,000.
