TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - U.S. Education Commissioner Arne Duncan is visiting Florida to talk about job creation and making college more affordable.

Duncan talked with students and civic leaders at a town-hall style event Wednesday at Tallahassee Community College.

He planned to focus on efforts to increase job creation by strengthening postsecondary career and technical education.

Duncan is to visit South Florida on Thursday. He'll talk to students, parents and local officials at Pembroke Pines Charter Higher School about the Obama administration's efforts to increase college affordability.

Duncan also plans to call upon colleges and universities to do their part in containing costs.

Florida universities have raised tuition in recent years to help mitigate sharp cuts in state funding, but it's still one of the
lowest rates in the nation.
