DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Bethune-Cookman College officials say President Trudie Kibbe Reed has resigned.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the school's trustees voted Friday to accept 64-year-old Reed's
resignation.
Reed served as president of the university since August 2004.
She informed board Chairman Larry Handfield in December of her intention to resign.
Under Reed's watch, Bethune-Cookman made the transition from a college to a university.
The newspaper reports Reed has also dealt with a number of issues, including financial concerns, hazing, on-campus crime and
the firing of four male professors in 2009.
No date has been set for Reed's departure.
