FAMU to hold "Succeeding in the Film Industry" forum

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - FAMU is holding a forum about making it in the film business as a part of their tribute to African-American film.

The forum will take place on Wednseday, February 8, at 7 p.m. It will be located in Tallahassee Community College's Turner Auditorium.

There will be a list of panelists who all have dipped their feed into the film industry. It includes the following:

- Anthony B. Major, director, Zora Neale Hurston Institute for Documentary Studies; professor, UCF’s Film School
- Lewis "Jiggs" Walker, property manager
- Melvin Johnson, casting director for film and television
- Valerie Scoon, a professor at the FSU Film School and formerly with Harpo Studios
- Akil DuPont, Student Emmy Award winning short film director/co-writer
- Rosalind Stevenson, publicist for major movies and numerous movies starring black actors
- Mr. Robert Stevenson, hair stylist for Whoopi Goldberg, Eddie Murphy, Angela Basset, Laurence Fishburne and for 14 years personal stylist for Samuel Jackson

In honor of Black History Month and in celebration of FAMU’s 125th anniversary, Florida A&M University's Lyceum Series and the Office of Student Activities in partnership with the Tallahassee Film Festival and the Tallahassee Film Society present A Tribute to African-American Films now through February 29.
