TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Emergency management officials say there's a high risk of rip currents along some of Florida's
Atlantic coast beaches.

They urge beachgoers to use caution Wednesday if they are visiting beaches from Volusia to Palm Beach counties.

Deputy State Meteorologist Michelle Palmer says ocean swells, local conditions and tidal effects are causing rip currents along the Space, Treasure and Gold coast beaches.

She says beachgoers should check the warning flags before going in the water. A red flag means conditions are considered dangerous.

Rip currents are narrow, powerful currents that run perpendicular to the beach.
