VALDOSTA, Ga. - Students in Valdosta learned an important lesson about civics and the court process on Monday.

Every year, the City of Valdosta invites students to come learn about the court process and jury procedure during a mock trial.

This year, students from Valwood School in Hahira gathered at the Valdosta Municipal Court building.

The defendant? One of their teachers. The crime? Stealing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

The students sat on the jury, and the mock trial was complete with a judge and attorneys.
