SUWANNEE COUNTY, FL - Florida Highway Patrol troopers tell us eight inmates are among the 11 people taken to various hospitals after a private prison transport van was involved in a crash on Interstate 10.
Troopers say the accident happened at approximately 4 a.m. Sunday near mile marker 291.
We’re told Charles Glover, 59, was traveling east on I-10 in Suwannee County when his 1997 BMW struck a privately owned prison transport van in a head-on collision.
The driver of the van, Timothy Chappell, 26, was headed west on I-10. Both drivers suffered minor injuries in the crash. Troopers say the right front passenger, Di Do, 41, was critically injured.
Troopers say the van was carrying eight prisoners at the time.
Their names and injuries suffered are:
•Andrew Kemp, 20, serious injuries, taken to Shands Gainesville
•Johnny Odom, 33, minor injuries, taken to Shands Jacksonville
•Kevin Vance, 45, critical injuries, taken to Shands Gainesville
•Terry Futrelle, 24, serious injuries, taken to Shands Live Oak
•Ryan Schroder, 26, minor injuries, taken to Shands Jacksonville
•Lawrence Parks, 24, minor injuries, taken to Shands Gainesville
•Darrell Pelzer, 22, minor injuries, taken to Shands Gainesville
•Dennis Williams, 24, minor injuries, taken to Shands Gainesville
Charges are pending, according to troopers.
