MADISON, Fla. - A man has been arrested and charged with DUI Manslaughter and Vehicular Homicide. This follows a Florida Highway Patrol investigation into a fatal single-car car crash that happened in October.
The FHP report says the accident happened in the early morning of Oct. 15. Henry Lee Roberson Jr., 27, was driving a car along US Highway 90, west of SW Pettis Circle, in the eastbound lane.
The right side tires of Roberson's vehicle exited the roadway onto the south shoulder. Roberson over-corrected, causing the vehicle to cross the centerline. The car began to rotate, entering the westbound lane of US Hwy 90 in a northeast direction. The car began to travel in that northeasterly direction along the tree line, striking a telephone junction box and several trees.
The vehicle came to a final rest, facing in southwest on the north shoulder of US Hwy 90.
Two passengers were in the vehicle, 31-year-old Jamie O'Neal Hampton and 37-year-old Jerry Lacadrick Miller. Miller died at the scene. Roberson and Hampton suffered serious injuries and were taken to the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Later, on Dec. 28, warrants were issued on Mr. Henry Lee Roberson, Jr. for D.U.I. Manslaughter and Vehicular Homicide. On January 2, he was arrested on those charges after turning himself in at the Madison County jail.
Troopers say Roberson's Blood Alcohol Content was .224.
Everyone in the vehicle, including Roberson, was from Greenville Florida. All were wearing seatbelts.
