TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A Leon County Sheriff's deputy—once named a deputy of the year—has been fired and is being charged with grand theft, according to Sheriff Larry Campbell.

David Graham is being charged with grand theft of a firearm, and and grand theft of more than $5000. Investigators believe Graham was stealing from a local senior citizen.

Investigators say Graham told the man he was working with the Sheriff's Office to help him protect his money. They say Graham took the man to the bank to withdraw large sums of cash, and then told the man where to hide the cash in his home.

Graham reportedly installed LCSO surveillance equipment in the man's home, using it come back and steal the cash.

More charges could be added to Graham's case as the investigation continues. Representatives say that it is possible that Graham stole up to $50,000.

Graham is currently out of jail on $5,000 bond.
