TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Trustee Nominating Committee of the Florida Board of Governors is seeking candidates for an appointment to the Board of Trustees for Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University.

Each one of the 11 state universities has a 13-member Board of Trustees responsible for cost-effective policy, and for implementing and maintaining high-quality education programs consistent with the university’s mission. The Boards of Trustees also develop processes to meet state policy, budgeting and education standards.

Individuals interested in this public service must complete an application. The term of service is through Jan. 6, 2015, and would fill an existing vacancy. Applicants do not need to live in the Tallahassee area to serve in this capacity.

“The Board of Governors in this case is looking for an individual to serve as a university trustee who is interested in higher education and interested in assisting both the institution and the goals of the State University System,” said Morteza “Mori” Hosseini of Daytona Beach, Chair of the Trustee Nominating Committee of the Florida Board of Governors.

Applications for seats appointed by the Board of Governors should be mailed to the address in Tallahassee indicated for processing, and not to the university. Also, Board of Governors’ appointments are separate from appointments that are made to university Boards of Trustees by the Governor of Florida.
