PINETTA, Fla. (WTXL) - Fire crews in Madison County say they believe kids playing with matches may have started a fire that destroyed an old abandoned barn.
WTXL viewer Patrick Lightcap sent in the photos from the scene.
Chief Allen Shadrick with Pinetta Fire & Rescue says crews were called out around 6 p.m. Sunday to a home at 393 NE Aloe Avenue in the Hansen area. The old abandoned barn sits back on the property, and chief Shadrick says was the only thing that was destroyed.
The exact cause of the fire is still unknown, though Shadrick says they're looking into whether it may have been kids.
There were no injuries.
Cherry Lake Fire & Rescue, Madison Fire & Rescue and Florida Division of Forestry assisted Pinetta Fire & Rescue on the call.
