TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida Gov. Rick Scott is quickly building up a large campaign war chest for his re-election.

Scott has already said he plans to seek a second term in 2014.

But a political committee tied to Scott has raised more than $500,000 in just the last four months.

Democrats contend that Scott's decision to raise so much money now shows that he's vulnerable. Recent polls have shown Scott's favorable rating remains below 50 percent.

But Tony Fabrizio, a top political adviser for Scott, said Tuesday there is no reason for the governor to wait before he starts raising money for his reelection. He says that as the economy improves and jobs return the governor's poll numbers will rise.

Scott spent more than $70 million of his own money for his 2010 campaign.
