TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida Gov. Rick Scott has appointed Ken Detzner as the state's new elections chief.

Scott appointed Detzner as the new secretary of state on Wednesday.

Detzner already had a short stint as secretary of state in 2003 under then-Gov. Jeb Bush. He had previously served as chief of
staff to Secretary of State Jim Smith from 2002-03.

Detzner also spent six years as director of legislative and policy affairs for the Attorney General's Office and 13 years as executive
director of the Florida Beer Wholesalers Association.

Detzner replaces Kurt Browning who left the post last week.

Browning says he's returning home to Pasco County where he may run for school superintendent.
