TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Tallahassee police officers  have arrested a man, Aaron Bright, for attempted sexual battery. The victim reported the incident to TPD investigators on last month and an investigation led to the Bright’s arrest.

On the day of the incident, the victim said she was crossing the parking lot at 1505 West Tharpe Street when she dropped her purse. A male approached her and bent down, as if to assist her with picking up her purse, but instead put a knife to her throat and dragged her to an unlit area behind the apartment building.

While she was being dragged, she saw a vehicle drive by and screamed for help. Bright allegedly continued to drag her behind the building and began to attempt to sexually batter the victim. Moments later several witnesses, who heard the victim scream for help, appeared and scared off the suspect. The victim's hands were cut while trying to fight the suspect off.

“Because of the quick thinking by the victim and several citizens, who were willing to come forward to help, this crime was stopped before it happened. I am proud to be a member of a community where people are not afraid to help a fellow citizen” said Chief Dennis Jones.

The 19-year-old Bright has been charged with sexual assault with a weapon, kidnapping to facilitate the commission of a felony, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and public order crimes- criminal attempt to solicit or conspire capital felony.
